Concerts in January 2010

It has been a great start for this new year with Sathya performing back to back concert in the month of January and also the fact that he is playing the second melody role in Dr. Ghatam Karthick's heartbeat ensemble. It is indeed a great happening that he was playing the lead melody for this ensemble at Nanganallur for NSTSS as Sri Embar Kannan was not available. Sri Bhavani Prasad took up the second melody on digital Veena and this concert was a milestone concert as this was the first time the group was performing with Sathya as the lead melody. The success of Sathya and the team was that the absence of Sri Embar Kannan was not evidently felt and that Dr. Karthick also sang with fluent ease in the absence of  ESK. A moral booster cocnert for the team heArtbeat indeed.

The most important public solo concerts Sathya performed during January was the one at Mahalingapuram Iyyapan temple on the 12th Jan'10 which was a divine blessing and the one at the Sivan park for Chennai Sangamam on the 13th Jan'10 which had a audience of over may be 1000. It was a great presentation by the team which was applauded all through out.

Sathya also performed in heArtbeat ensemble on the 5th for Padma Sarangapani Trust, 11th at madurai for Sathguru Sath Sangam, 14th at Sivan Park for Chennai Sangamam, 15th at Youth Hosterl, Indra Nagar for Hamsadwani and the already mentioned concert for NSTSS on teh 23rd Jan'10.

The January concerts will be signed off by Sathya participating in the Pancharathnam presentation for Bharat Kalachar tomorrow, 31st Jan'10. Looking forward to great time in the days to follow.

A grand begining at Velachery for Nadasudha on 01 January, 2010

It was indeed a grand New Year 2010 for us in the family as Nadasudha had provided oppurtunity for Mother and son to perform on the 1st Jan'10. Yes Smt K. It was informed that Sathya had a large audience till then during that concert and it numbered over 175 people at the hall.   Both Sri Balasubramaniams - resident and Secretary were happy on seeing the turn out.

Sathya started the concert with Sri Sukram and on request of the manager of the ashram played Reethigowla raga allapana followed by Thanam and presented Janani Ninuvina a Subraya Sastrigal krithi . He also tried the anandhaBhairavi krithi ThyagarajaYoga Vaibhavam set to Rupaka thalam for teh first time and was well received. Sri Sundaresan lauded the efforts of Sathya and as Mr Balasubramanian, Preseident of the sabha spoke on the questioning of this very instrument in Carnatic forum, a rasika who understandably is the nephew of a great singer seconded the thoughts of Mr balu who was very much appreciative of teh performance of Sathya which was also appreciated by the audience who had stayed back for the full concert. Signing off 2009 at Music Academy

It was indeed a great opportunity for Sathya to just perform with his uncle Sri Embar S. Kannan on the format of "Fusion" a thematic presentation which was presented as a medley - chain of songs. It had a western number followed by a film and a carnatic krtihi which was presented by these two vidwans and they were so great in their timing that when they played the last phrase of Vandhey Matharam the clock showed 00:00:00 and that was the time for celebrating the New Year 2010. What a way to end a year and to get into another! a rare opportunity and thanks to "Carnatica" for this wonderful arrangement to celebrate New Year. This was organised in association with The Music Academy and had various concepts presented by leading artists. Llarge audience presence showed the success of teh concept and hope to have this featured regularly inmore appealing manner in teh years to come. Kudos to  Carnatica Team.

Concert for Brahma Gana abha on 31st Dec'09

BGS has been kind of home ground now for Sathya and he did a good presentation with Sri V.V. Ravi on violin, Sri Poongulam Subramanian on Mrudhangam and Dr. Ghatam Karthick enhansing the concert. Sathya took up Vishvambari, last of the Brahma Chakram in the Melakartha ragas and presented for Brahma Gana Sabha a RTP with the words "Ramani SriRamanai Raghuramanai - Naalum paadi Arulperuvom" in Kandajathi Thriputa thalam with Sunduviral edupu. t was much appreciated by the enhancing artists on stage and also had a great appreciation from the audience which was not bad considering the day being New year eve and also was on a working day. The good sign was the coverage by NDTV-Hindu channel and a good write up on Sathya in the Business India magazine in the issue dated 17th Jan'10.
