A great recognition for Sathya at "The Music Academy"
I had been to MFAC today 12th Nov'06 to attend the "Mudra" music directory 2007 release function and got a news that Sathya's photograph of an article is placed in The Music Academy. I was wondering and was enthralled with the huge article page made into a hoardring and kept just at the main entrance of "The Music Academy". God has been very kind and we thank "The Hindu" for having Sathya's article in the midst of great reviews. Our thanks to Sri Gopi mama of Coimbatore who was the main cause for Sathya to perform in Coimbatore without which this could not have happened.
My sincere thanks to Mr Pyarilal, www.carnaticsangeetham.com who was kind enough to come and take all the photos displayed above and send it to me instantly.
Thanks to Mr Thomas for a great oppurtunity at ECA, Bangalore
Sathya enjoyed the concert tour to Bangalore for East Cultural Association who had arranged a solo concert of Sathya handling two keyboards on the 11th Nov'06. Sathya used his Yamaha PSR 640 for Rhythma nd Korg TR for melody and performed numbers from Carnatic, Western and Film numbers.
Mr Thomas, Cultural wing incharge said that the concert was far beyond the imagination of himself with Sathya excelling in all varieties of music and gave great presentation on each form.
Sathya performed Vathapi Ganapathim & Chinnanchirukiliye in carnatic side with one of his own composition based on ragam Kaapi, Keeravani and Gowri Manohari which made got specail appreciation from the audience present.
He performed Theme from Fox and his8th grade western lession named Mad Max under the western form. He played the ever green number of Churaliya & and few hindi numbers like Kajurare, Thuje Deku deku Sona, Humma Humma. He also sang the pallavi for the song Illamaiyenum Poongatru - one of the all time great compositions of Maestro Illayaraja.
It was indeed a great auditorium with excellent PA system of international standard and the team including the sound engineer of East Cultural assoicaition were very co-opertive and made the visit very memorable.
Here is the msg received from Mr Thomas Kunnath, Cultural incharge ECA and we thank him for wonderful report.
Report from Mr Thomas Kunnath
I really from my heart, tell you that Sathya's abilities are more than I or infact members of our club expected. He has a very bright future.
I'm attaching few comments from our members
1. Sreedevi Unni(Well known Mohiniattam dancer, She has a dance troupe which performs all over the world. She is the mother of National award actress Monisha Unni who passed away few years back) while introducing Sathya she said, Sathya at a young age of 11 is able to recite kirthana's & raga's which usually is achieved by professional singer's/musicians with decades of practice.
2. Shaji Pillai(A top executive of IBM. He is also a singer) : Shaji Pillai said,Its amazing to see that a boy at the age of 11 can handle all Ragam, thallam & pallavi. The way Sathya moving over from Carnatic to Semi-classical to western to filmy numbers was extra-ordinary. He also remarked Sathya has opened his eyes on how much a child can do. He said he will surely take the advice of TKB and will try to find out the talents in his children.
3. A very senior member of around 75 plus years came all the way up the stage and gave flowers to Sathya and wished him to be a great musician.
There are many more. It was unfortunate that our circular did not reach our members. We had posted it on Tuesday.
It was a small crowd of only around 100 members. The best part was that no one got up from their seats till Sathya program was over.
A big auditorium of 1000 member capacity, with good music system & aquatics and with only Sathya & around 100 music lovers and pin drop silence - It was amazing.

Sathya was happy to perform his second concert at vellore on the 5th Nov'06, this time for "Saraswathi Isai Arangam" an institution run by Mr & Mrs Surendran. It was indeed a memorable concert & rates this as one his best concerts with a great ambience. He had L Ramakrishnan on violin, Thillaisthanam Suriyanarayanan on the mrudhangam and Prof Dr vellore A. R. Srinivasa on Morsing.
Here is the review of this concert from Dr Prof Srinivasan (also the morsing artist for the day) which had come to our email id:
Song details:Young Sathya is really a maestro to the core. The gay abandon with which he played was simply superb. With his dignified keyboard playing and maturity beyond age, he mesmerized the rasikas of Saraswati Isai Arangam , Vellore. The concert was held on Nov . 5th .
The brilliant violin support provided by young Sr i Ramakrishnan - a disciple of Vidushi Kanyakumari and the vibrant percussive support on the Mridangam by Thillaisthanam Sri Suryanarayanan , a worthy disciple of Guru Kumbakonam Sri Rajappaiyer added glory to the concert. I was very fortunate to have shared the concert platform by providing Morsing support. It is a matter of great pride for me to be addressed as the first Morsing artiste to have accompanied the young genius.
Sathya's father Sri Krishna Babu interspersed the concert with lucid and thought provoking comments. Sri Krishnababu kindled the interest and musical instinct of many a student of carnatic music who had gathered in large numbers for Sathya's concert. Starting off on a delectable note with the evergreen Sami ninne varnam in Sri , Master... no , no... maestro Sathya proceeded to serve a wholesome ,intellectually appealing Hamsadhwani ;Gam ganapathe . His grip over the Adi talam tisra nadai won accolades . A rich Mayamalavagaula portraying Sri Swati Tirunal's Devadevakalaya brought many a glimpse of Sri Semmangudi mama. Everybody listening to Sathya wondered how he could so vividly perform niraval & swaraprastharas on an alien instrument viz. Keyboard . Amazing karvais emanated from the masterly use of the 'sustain knob '.
The piece de resistance was however the brilliant alapana in Kalyani for Vasudevayani . Swaraprastharas in Kalyani ,Kambhoji and Ratipatipriya in the forward and reverse directions baffled the discerning audience . Not to deprive the rasikas of tani avartanam and also keeping in view the audience interest ( to listen maximally to Sathya ), Sri Surya & I rounded off with a brief spell. Arabimanam ( ragamalika ) as well as the surprise inclusion of a Hungarian dance no. based on Natabhairavi surprised the audience . Padmasri Lalgudi's tillana in Jonpuri was recieved well . A memorable concert at my hometown ...after a long ,long time …………………
Special mention has to be made of the Surendrans ( organisers )who provided wonderful hospitality to the artistes and a marvelous ambience for the rasikas.
Hats off to Sathya!! May God Bless him .
