A dream come true concert at Koothannoor Sarawathi Temple - 21st Oct'07

It was just a dream come true concert for Sathya as we never thought this will happen so soon! Thanks to Sri Jayaram of Koothanoor who had confirmed this concert way back in April'07 during a wedding reception concert, then we just thought it as another positive sign.

Playing infornt of Goddess Sarawathi - Veena Vahini - that too on the Vijayadhasami Day (630 - 845pm) was indeed a greatest blessing for Sathya and should be one of the best positive signs as it is a kind of blessing / recognition the instrument has got from the Goddess herself.

It was for the first time Sathya performed an elaborate raga alapana on ragam Saraswathi, a ragamalika alapana on ragam Aberi, Kalyani & Shanmugapriya for Nagumomu as requested by the audience followed by kalpanaswaras in ragamalika during the kurapu and aruthi. The team of Ananthakrishnan - Violin, Ravishankar - Mrudhangam and Sowrirajan - Kanjeera & Morsing appreciated Sathya for this great presentation and the audience were spell bound. The nadaswaram and Thavil vidwans of the temple were all praise for the effort of Sathya and appreciated the team's concert.

While Ananthakrishnan was his usual best through out the concert both Ravi shankar and Sowrirajan were performing together as if they were doing it on a every day basis with great understanding. The thani was very much appreciated.

The details of the songs performed are:

01. Vathapi Ganapathim - Hamsadwani - Adi (R, N & S)
02. Suryamoorthey - Sourastram - Druva Thalam
03. Saraswathy Namosthuthe - Saraswathi - Rupakam (R & S)

17 Oct ' 07- A concert that gave Sathya the title "VidwanMani"

It was a feeling of having to perform another good concert which turned out to be a title awarding concert. Thanks to the team of M Rajeev - Violin, Thillaisthanam Suriyanarayanan - Mrudhangam, Hariharasharma - Kanjeera and Chandrasekara Sharma - Ghatam who along with Sathya presented a wonderful concert.

This concert was performed on the 17th Oct'07 for the 14th Year Navarathri festival conducted by Guruji SrilaSri Kamatchi Swamigal for Sri Kamakshi Kaingarya Trust & Sri Swarna Kameswari Seva Sangam - Nanganallur. Guruji was present throughout the concert and blessed the artists after the main krithi 'Devi Neeyethunai' on keeravani. Impressed by the performance of Sathya Guruji also decided to confer the title "VidwanMani" for his talents and it was indeed a pleasant shock for all of us. While getting titles itself is a great achievement, getting it during a performance for the first time in the forum is indeed a greater blessing. Guruji praised each and every artist highlighting all the positive points.

Starting with Kanada Ata Thala Varnam (being first attempt Sathya performed only one kalam) Sathya perform following krithis and impressed one and all. Rajeev was brilliant as usual and showed his class both in raga alapanas and kalpanaswarams. The percussion team indeed was remarkable through out the concert and excelled very much in the short but sweat thani. While every krithi was appreciated Keeravani & bhajans namely Chandrasekara and Kamatkshi (a Maestro Illayaraja's composition) received special applause from the audience.

Krithis performed:

01 Varnam - Kaanada - Ata thalam
02 Vathapi Ganapathim - Hamsadwani - Adi (R, N & S)
03 Budhamsra - Natakurinji - Misra Jampa thalam
04 Thayethipurasundari - SuddhaSaveri - Kandachapu (R)

Special mention about the audience who had been in large numbers and remained till the end of the concert to greet Sathya.
