AIR's recognition - Official with letter of grade awarded to Sathya

I am happy to inform and place on record that "All India Radio" - The Prime body in India for recognising artists / instruments has issued letter to Sathyanarayanan with "B" grade. Remarkable achievement for a 15 year old! He has surely been also a cause for this instrument to be recognised by AIR. Sri Ravisankar who also took up the audition was also granted this grade. These two have become one the first in the country to get this recognition!

Above is the first cocnert Sathya performed after becoming a AIR graded artiste and turned out to be a mile stone sort of concert as he performed here amidst rain / drizzle! Yes at some part of time he has covered the instrument with plastic sheet and without seeing the keys was performing with ease! Yellam Iraivan Seyal!!!

MFAC Concert on 13th December, 2010

It is indeed sad to note from the news in "The Hindu" that Sri Venkataraman, secretary passed away yesterday 13th Dec'10 around 6pm. Even though belated we sincerely dedicate yesterday's concert to him as he was one of the main reason for Sathya's growth in the Industry with the staunch support he had extended to Sathya with great opputunities to perform for MFAC.

Sathya and team of M. Rajeev on violin Kumbakonam Swaminathan on Mrudhangam and Hariharasubramanian on Ghatam gave a concert soothing to the ears of the decent turn out in spite being the first working day of the week. This concert is probably one of the last Sathya had from the Chennai sabhas and sad to note that it was also probably one of the last Mr. Venkataraman has confirmed / recommended this year.

The video audio links will be updated soon and the details of the krithis are as follows:

1. Varavallaba - Hamsadwani - Adi (Or & S)

December 10, 2010 for Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan

A concert to be termed a pleasant presentation in terms of the ambiance, the kalapramanams of the krithis and the way audio was set! Yes every one - the artists and the audience liked this! It is always difficult to hold the audience after a vocal concert, especially the great way Ms Dharini had rendered just before Sathya's team! Her song selection and her diction added value to this element.

Sathya Started with teh Gambeeramana "Atana" raga krithi "Sri Mahaganapthim Bhaje hum" and the audience were truly pulled by this team and the writing for a good presentation was on the chords. Rajeev and Arjun Ganesh were brilliant in enhancing this concert and i leave it to you all to evaluate this onseeing these video clipping in which only the Thillana is missing as was the bike keys of Arjun Ganesh! Hope he gets it.

The list includes:

1. Sri MahaGanaptim Nhaje Hum - Atana - Adi [Or, S]

Bharat Kalachar Concert - 02 December, 2010

A home turf concert this time from 5 - 7 pm had a decent number of audience which improved as the concert proceeded.. There were some very known faces who have become good well wishers of Sathya and the highlight was the presentation / felicitation by Padmashree Dr. Mrs YGP- The Chairman. She not only appreciated Sathya but also gave him the extra confidence in telling him not to worry too much about the marks in the curriculam but ensure to concentrate on his performing skills and grow to become a great musician.

Sathya performed with Karaikal Venkatasubramanian on Violin, R. Sankaranarayanan on Mrudhangam Hariharasubramanian on Ghatam and T. Krishnababu (self) on thalam. Started the Lalgudi's Valaji raga varnam the team gave a great Mohanakalyani in Siddhi Vinayakam. Probably they got engrossed too much in the Kalpanaswaram there was a slip in the korvai which the team ensured to play it again and got a round of applause. Thats the spirit! As far as the artists the team of Karaikal Venkatasubramani on violin, R. Sankaranarayanan on Mrudhangam and Hariharasubramanian on Ghatam proved yet again that this is always a team that along with Sathya gets to the heart of the rasikas and get appreciation from them. Kudos to the volunteers of the School who reallymadeup the auditorium with the chairs and ensured all were wiped of the dust too. Appreciation also to the Audio person who enhanced the concert with his knowledgeable presentation from is side.

The list is as follows:

1. Varnam - Valaji - Adi
2. SiddhivinayaKam - Mohanakalyani - Adi [Or & S]

She was all praise for his efforts in bringing out teh nuances and mentioned that it was equal to a vocal concert - a great credit - as she explained that the tone from the instrument could almost bring out the words because of teh abitlity to handle the instrument and bringing the raga swarupa & bhavam in the krithi.

An appreciation from Media for our new thought!

Having got the acceptance in a forum - Hamsavinodhini during the concert held at Sri Kasi Viswanathar Temple, West Mabalam on August 15, 2010, this report in Mambalam Talk dated August 29, 2010 gives us a satisfaction of taking a step forward of our new thought of Sathya on keyboard to perform with a nadaswaram artist. Hope to repeat this concept in many more forums and to get wide acceptability from general public.

Concert at Sree Narayana Gurudev Mandiram - 25 Aug'10

It was a short but a divine atmosphere which enhanced this concert as Sri. B. Ananthakrishnan on Violin and Sri S. Sridharan on Mrudhangam did for Sathya. Thanks to Smt Janaki, devotee on seeing Sathya & his other team perform at Matha Amruthanandamayee Ashram, Chennai wanted this to happen here during the 156th Sree Narayana Gurudev Jayanthi celebrations and accepted at once by the Swamji and the committee.

Starting with Mahaganapathim in Naatai Sathya dedicated PavanaGuru in
Subhapanthuvarali - a composition of Sree Narayana Guru himself and later performed Dasar Krithi Narayana followed by Krishnanee Begane. SAthya made a sketch of anlinakanthi and performed brisk krithi in Tyagaraja's Manavyalakimchara for which kalpanaswaram exchange had both Ananthakrishnan and Sathya doing some nice turns. Sri Sridharan rounded off with a short thani avarthanam in this piece. The concert ended with Gurudev's own words Siva Shankara sharva. A divine feeling of having the blessings of the Gurudev in person!

heArtbeat Concert for YACM at Music Academy

It is a fact the Audio system and the acoustics & ambiance present at Music Academy added great enhancement to teh high quality performance from the team led by Dr. Ghatam Karthick, Embar Kannan, Poongulam Subramanian, Bangalore Arunkumar, B. Sundarkumar and Sathya was also part of this group.

Concert at Tirupur for "Eppadi Padinaro" - August 22, 2010

The team of Sathya with Karaikal Venkatasubramanian on Violin and R. Sankaranarayanan on mrudhangam with Krishnababu on thalam traveled to Tirupur for a concert under "Eppadi Padinaro" organised jointly by Tirupur Shanmugananda Sabha and Sri krishna Seets. The concert was held at the famous Lord Easwaran Temple, Tirupur, premises. A good ambience indeed and the audio was also of good nature. However due to shortage of time proper sound check was not done due to some power fluctuations. Still the presentation came out very well and audience stayed back for full length of the concert and that showed really the acceptance level for the instrumental music among knowledgeable audience.

Special mention to be made on Sri G.Sengottaiyan , a rare Rasika who has the passion of recording all the concerts held - with permission from artists- and uploads same in his YouTube channel! It is indeed not a easy job to sink the camera frames to that of the audio recording as he mixes them both before uploading. A needs not only dedication but also commitment and Passion to got through this process! Thanks to him one of the songs performed - "Sabapathikku" in Aboghi was already uploaded in his you tube channel http://www.youtube.com/sengottaiyang Here is the link for the same:

August 15, 2010 - A sort of Trend setter concert

It was indeed a trend setter concert for Sathya teaming up with a Nadaswaram artiste for a full length classical concert! It was clear from the thought of this combo that he will be walking on tight rope in terms of presenting the nuances of Carnatic music for the fact he was playing alongside an instrument which is accepted as the Raja Vadhyam to produce the best of the nuances in our music tradition. Es both past and present great vidwans and vidhushis has mentioned and accepted this fact and it was a litmus test indeed for both the instrument – Keyboard and Sathya to produce their best.

Being Independence day the concert started off with Aduvome Palli Paduvome bring the mood of India on the very same day in the year 1947! Pancharathna Mallari was performed with short raga alapana of the ragas involved. Bhairavi swarajathi was taken up and as the duration of the concert was reduced to 95 mts as the concert started a little late due to technical reasons the team decided to expand same with kalpanaswaram followed by short thani. Both R. Sankaranarayanan on Mrudhangam and Trichy Krishna on Ghatam enhanced the melodic instruments to present a concert to the best satisfaction of all present.

Here is the link of the audio and video clippings and I leave it to the individuals to conclude on the percentage of success achieved by Sathya. It will be nice if one can forward his / her opinion to us so that Sathya can do his best in future. Thanks to Hamsavinodhini to have accepted to make this new combo of instruments and hope this will have a wider acceptance in future. The ambience at Sri Kasi Viswanathar Temple in West Mambalam was indeed good and we all can look forward to listen to more and more concerts happening in time to come.

The details of krithis performed are:

01. Aduvome Palli Paduvome - based on Misra Maandu
02. Gajananayutham – Chakravagam – Adi (R & S)

Lord Balaji's blessings continues! - August 14, 2010 at TTD

After the concert at TTD, Chennai it was the concert at TTD, Tirumala - Tirumala Headquarters for Nada Neerajanam 1st anniversary special concert.

When we got a call from Sri Embar S. Kannan asking if Sathya will be available on the 14th August, 2010 to perform at Tirumala along with Malaldi Brothers for the 1st anniversary celebrations of Nada Neerajanam concept at Tirumala, we did not imagine that this will be of this magnitude! What an oppurtunity for Sathya to be on a stage where Legendary Sri Nedunuri Krishnamurthi Garu lead a galaxy of Stalwart musicians both present & to be vidwans like Sri Malladi Suri Babu, Malladi Brothers, Sri Abhisek Raghuram, Sri Pattabiram Pandit, Vidhushis Smt Nithyashree Mahadevan, Smt. M.S. Sheela, Smt Tirupathi K. Vandana, Smt. Ranjani Hebbar, Sow. Nisha Rajagopal, Sow. K. Gayathri, Violin Vidwans Sri Perri Sriramulu, Sri Embar S. Kannan, Veena vidhushi Smt. Jayalakshmi Sekar, Sri Palghat Sriram on Flute, Mrudhanga vidwans in Sri M.L.N. Raju, Sri Arun Prakash, Sri Udipi Sridhar on Ghatam, Sri Ganapathy on Tabla and Sri A.S. Krishnan on the Morsing.

The great aspect of this concert presentation was that even though musicians were from different schools of music they were presenting one concept and presented same in unison giving no value to individual brilliance. Vidwan Suribabu’s explanation about the krithis before it was rendered was well appreciated. Kudos to the PA system team which was excellent for the fact that they had very little time to play around and still presented a great quality of balance. While there is always room for doubts on the balance aspects for shows with long rehearsals and sound check this team should be complimented for their brilliant team work within a short time.

The team presented jewels of different composers and concluded with poetic lines from the thoughts of Sri Pappu Venugopal Rao who was coordinating the show which was in praise of all the composers whose numbers they had taken to sing this day. It has been tuned by Sri Malladi Suri Babu proud father of Malladi Brothers under the guidance of Sri Nedunuri Krishnamurthi Garu in ragam Kalyani and it turned out to be a fitting finale. Hwever as requested by the Chairman and E.O. of TTD, the team presented “Entharo Mahanubhavullu” which was a on the spot group rendition and came out very well too!

The 8 jewels presented were:

01. Koluvaiyunnade – Devaganthari – Adi – Thyagarajar
02. RamabadraRaRa – Sankarabharanam – AdiTtisranadai - Bhadrachala Ramadas
03. Sri Venkata Gireesam – Surutti – Adi - Sri Muthuswamy Deekshithar
04. Pahi Pahimam – Jonpuri – Adi – Narayana Theerthar
05. Bhajare Gopalam – Hindolam – Adi - Sadasiva Brahmendra
06. Karuna Joodu - Sri – Adi Sri Syama Sastri
07. NavaneethaChora - Senchurutti – Adi - Tallapaka Annamacharya
08. Venkatachala Nilayam – SindhuBairavi – Adi – Purandara Dasa

These were followed by the kalyani raaga composition - Lyrics Sri Pappu Venugopala Rao and music Sri amlladi Suri babu under the guidance of Sri Nedunuri Krishnamurthi Garu and Entharo Mahanubhavulu. A violin ensemble with Kum. A. Kanyakumari and 6 other violin artists was presented after this concert.

Review in Dinamalar for the TTD concert

Thanks to Dinamalr - Rasigapriya - for anexcellent review covering all aspects of a concert. It is also satisfying to note that this has been reviewed on the basis of his concert performed rather than looking at him as a child trying to give performance. Also the mention of AIR recognising the instrument is indeed a great boon as general public will be more receptive!

GuruPoornima day Concert at Mata Amritanandamayi Math, Chennai - 25th jul'10

As it stands Public concerts for any Instrumental artist is indeed rare and to get a concert oppurtunity to perform on the Guru Poornima day at Amma Mata Amritanandamayi Math is indeed a great blessing.

Sathya had this blessing on the July 25th, 2010 when he performed with Sri. B. Ananthakrishnan on the violin and Sri K. Swaminathan on mrudhangam. Thanks to Sri Vinayamrutha Chaithanya Swamiji of this Math in Virugambakkam this concert was well received with large audience and a quality PA system provided by the Math.

The team started off with a varnam composed by the great legendary Dr. M. Balamuralikritshna in Gambeeranaatai Ragam set to adi thalam and followed it with a Ganapathi Thuthi in raagam Reethigowla. As per request of many in the audience Sathya decided to perform song as per the request with Pavana Guru in Hamsanandhi, Raghuvamsasudha and Krishnanee i Yamuna Kalyani. Both Sathya and Ananthakrishnan presented a good aalapana for Hamsanandhi which was well appreciated. Inspired by one of his guru Sri MAndolin Shrinivas's presentation of Bindhumalini, Sathya tried his best to perform Endha Mudho. Swaminathan playede a short & sweat Thani after the krithi.

Sathya followed this with a Utchavasambradhya krithi Srirama in ragam Sahana & Sri Lalgudi's thillana in raagam Desh. As requested by a rasika Sathya presented a medley and the entire audience were seen clapping which sound became actually the main percussion at many places.

Please log on to http://videosonsathya.blogspot.com/ to view some of the video clippings, thanks to Sathya's amma Smt. Lalitha Krishnababu for taking it.

Yes its the same feeling of a couple getting the first news of the woman knowing that she is carrying! We are now waiting for "Suga Prasavam" in terms of god result. This oppurtunity indeed makes it really feel moved and the concert was indeed a huge audience in spite of the fact that this is the first time ever Sathya is performing in this temple Town.

The audience was more of locals and to respect their music knowledge and also to satisfy their film music requirements Sathya's team presented a concert with a mix of popular numbers in both the genres. Sathya also performed a piece composed with Drums Sridhar during his recent holiday trip in Kodaikannal.

The highlight of the concert was the Pancharathna Mallari with ragams Naatai, Gowla, Varali, Arabi & Sri set to Misra Thriputa Thalam which was performed so well by the team of Sri Adyar Balasubramani on Nadaswaram, Sri Karakurichi Balaji on Veena, Kumbakonam Swaminathan on Mrudhangam, Tabla Pradeep, Drums Sridhara, Valangaiman Hariharasubramanian on Ghatam, Ghata Singari Rajagopal and Vijay on Timing. While Balaji performed Malardhum Malaradha, BAlasubramani performed Ullathul Nalla Ullam as their solo popular numbers from film side, Sathya chose Senthamizh Then Mozhiyal, OrulanalPodhuma, Paatum Nane and Maraindhirundhu Parkum Marmamenna.

The melody team performed Vathapi Ganapathim, Buntureethikolu, Bo sambo apart from Sathya's composition and topped up with Madurai Somu's - this village is the birth place of this great legendary singer, Marudhamalai as the penultimate song which was very well received by a large audience. Sathya performed his medley which indeed got the appreciation from one and all. It was almost a 3 hr concert which was well received and thanks to Mr & Mrs Kridhnamurthy, Auditor from Aiyanawaram, Chennai this was indeed a great blessing for Sathya & team.

All India Radio Auditions Keyboard as a lead Classical Instrument

It is indeed a great news to the Music lovers in general and Keybaord artiste community in particular that Keyboard has been accepted as a lead Classical Instrument, thanks to the Almighty and the I & B Ministry.

Yes. Henceforth like any other classical instrument artists Keyboard artists over and above 16 years of age can take up audition test of All India Radio - AIR, and get themselves graded.

It is also a great news for all the well wishers of K. Sathyanarayanan that he has been one of the major factors in this effort. He has been given special exemption on the age limit. Sathya took up the Local Audition on the 19th May'10 and we are awaiting the results for the same. It has been a great blessing from the Almighty for this long awaited  grade status for this instrument and we sincerely hope Sathya will come out successful to take take up the next level. Sri Nanganallur Ravishankar, a Vocalist, Mrdhangam Vidwan, Keybaord artiste and presently a prime contestant in the "Hariyudan Naan" of Jaya TV also took up this audition on the 19th May and made history.

It is also a news that Keyboard is one of the subjects in Madras University - B. Mrudhangam course and understand that Bharathidasan university is also offering courses on Diploma and under graduation levels.

Great times ahead for Keyboard artists and  let us all pray for their grand success.

Concert at Villiwakkam for Sathguru Sath Sangam - April 21, 2010

Its kind of home ground for Sathya and this Villiwakkam Rajaji Nagar playground is one special venue which will be remembered by Sathya for ever! It was here before 5 years Sathya got an oppurtunity to perform instead of the days performers Mr & Mrs Raju on Mandolin could not turn up that day due to unavoidable circumstances in April 2005.

Sathya decided to perform with his newly received keyboard Korg - Trinity Pro which did not work due to low voltage. Surprisingly Akylesh - Sathya's well wisher and fan had bought a new Yamaha PSR 740 model keyboard and had brought it to perform on the same stage as he wanted it to be inaugurated by Sathya. As destiny was for Sathya to play on this new instrument, Akylesh readily agreed for Sathya to perform on this instrument and it was a fact that it was just opened from the case. As Sathya was using Yamaha PSR 640 earlier he could handle the isntrument  right from finding the required tones and gave an excellent presentation.

It was at this same very ground this year on the April 21st Sathya performed for a concert organised by Sathguru Sath Sangam, Villiwakkam and Welfare Association of Rajaji Nagar, Villiwakkam as part of Ramanavami celebrations. SAthya had decided to perform krithis on Lord Rama of various composers and also rendered Arunachala Kavi's kanden Kanden in Baghyashree apart from Raghupathy Raghava RAjaram as finale.

Sathya took up Bhairavam as the main with Tyagaraja krithi Mariyadhaga, elobrating raga aalapana and kalpanaswaram. He also attempted Dikshidar's Manirangu krithi "Mamava Pattabi Rama" fand another Jewl of Tyagaraja's Geetharthamu in ragam Suruti for the first time. It was indeed a good presentation and audience did encourage him with great applause. It will be nice if people who see this article log on to www.sangeethamshare.org and listen to the tracks of this concert already uploaded under 'Member folders link Sathya (keyboard)' vide serial number 032. Your views and comments will be highly appreciated and will go a long way in doing best.

Villiwakkam Raghuraman on violin, Thillaisthanam Suriyanarayanan on Mrudhangam and Valangaiman Hariharasubramanian on Ghatam & Morsing performed to their best and enhanced the concert to the best satisfaction of the audience. While the percusion team was great in accompanying the krithis they also gave a reverbarating thani avarthanam which was well appreciated by all.

It will be unfair if the warmth and encouragement given by Villiwakkam audience and Sri Sambamoorthy in particular which was overwhelming with Sathya's cd posters seen not only at the exit gate of the Railway Station but also at the venue. Mr Sambamoorthy also brought out the best aspects of Sathya's last year achievements with a question answer session just before the concert and was indeed a good idea.

The krithis rendered were as follows:

01. Jaya Jaya - Naatai - Kandachapu - Purandharadasa (N, S)
02. Mamava Pattabi Rama - Manirangu - Misrachapu - Dikshidar
03. Rama Rama - Vasantha - Adi - Tisranadai (S)

The aalapanas and the swara patterns performed by Venkat was in line with his experience and Trivandrum Balaji excelled in not only taking up the krithis to a greater sweetness but also excelled in his crisp thaniavarthanam. His sarvalagu patterns during the main kalpanaswarams in Harikambodhi was a pleasure to listen to. Shivarathri Concert for Sri Papanasam Kumar at BVB Mini Hall. Great day indeed!

It was indeed a great day for me, as father of Sathya as it was a great oppurtunity to have Sathya showcase his provess on the instrument amidst a learned carnatic traditional audience on this auspicious day on the 14th Mar at 215am - 310 am. It was part of teh agandam concert celebrations organised by Layapriya Sri Papanasam Kumar and had featured many leading artists to participate in this 12 hour concert series.

This concert was enhanced by Akarai Sowrnalatha on Violin, Calcutta Karthick on teh Mrudhangam and Sivaramakrishnan on Ghatam. The team performed SivaSiva enaradha in Panthuvarali with kalpanaswram followed by Sabapathikku in Aboghi, Lalthangi raaga aalapana, short thanam and kalpanaswaram for the krithi Pirava varam tharum. He concluded the concert with Mahadeva Shiva Sambo.

It was indeed a great gift for me, father of Sathya as this concert helped me identify a friend with whom we lost contact for 25 years and he was sitting in the audience during the concert. What a pleasant surprise and it was indeed a great varam from Lord Shiva. also when we were going on a pradhakshanm in car outside the temple Mr Giriraj, a shop owner near the Temple Tank, recgnised us and gave a gift of a Lingam and Nadheeswarar at around 330am. What a gift on an auspicious day  of Shivarathri!

Sathya in to Sweet Sixteen! this day 1st February

It is a great blessing for Sathya to have been a part of Pancharathna krithis groups presentation at Bharat Kalachar on the day he completed his 15 years of age! It was also a great gift from the Media - :The Hindu" DownTown - T. Nagar featuring Sathya's article on the recently released album "Bhajans on Keyboard". A report in "Business India" on page 138 of issue dated Jan24th, 2010 is also a memorable one.

Sathya has received many phone calls and quite a large number of emails from all his well wishers and we sincerely thank one and all for the blessings and wishes showered on him. We are sure with teh grace of The Almighty he will get the best he deserves and will strive hard to live upto the expectations of all his well wishers, dear & near.

Concerts in January 2010

It has been a great start for this new year with Sathya performing back to back concert in the month of January and also the fact that he is playing the second melody role in Dr. Ghatam Karthick's heartbeat ensemble. It is indeed a great happening that he was playing the lead melody for this ensemble at Nanganallur for NSTSS as Sri Embar Kannan was not available. Sri Bhavani Prasad took up the second melody on digital Veena and this concert was a milestone concert as this was the first time the group was performing with Sathya as the lead melody. The success of Sathya and the team was that the absence of Sri Embar Kannan was not evidently felt and that Dr. Karthick also sang with fluent ease in the absence of  ESK. A moral booster cocnert for the team heArtbeat indeed.

The most important public solo concerts Sathya performed during January was the one at Mahalingapuram Iyyapan temple on the 12th Jan'10 which was a divine blessing and the one at the Sivan park for Chennai Sangamam on the 13th Jan'10 which had a audience of over may be 1000. It was a great presentation by the team which was applauded all through out.

Sathya also performed in heArtbeat ensemble on the 5th for Padma Sarangapani Trust, 11th at madurai for Sathguru Sath Sangam, 14th at Sivan Park for Chennai Sangamam, 15th at Youth Hosterl, Indra Nagar for Hamsadwani and the already mentioned concert for NSTSS on teh 23rd Jan'10.

The January concerts will be signed off by Sathya participating in the Pancharathnam presentation for Bharat Kalachar tomorrow, 31st Jan'10. Looking forward to great time in the days to follow.

A grand begining at Velachery for Nadasudha on 01 January, 2010

It was indeed a grand New Year 2010 for us in the family as Nadasudha had provided oppurtunity for Mother and son to perform on the 1st Jan'10. Yes Smt K. Lalitha mother of Sathya performed a concert form 3:30 to 5pm and Sathya performed from 6: 30 to 9pm at Sri Ganabapthi Sachidhanandha ashram premisses Baby Nagar, Velachery.

Smt. Lalitha's concert was followed by Sri Rithvik Raja's concert and then Sathya was onstage with new set of enhancing artists in the combination of Sri. M. A. Sundaresan on Violin, Sri. J. Vaidhyanathan on Mudhangama and Sri E.M.Subramaniam on the Ghatam. It was informed that Sathya had a large audience till then during that concert and it numbered over 175 people at the hall.   Both Sri Balasubramaniams - resident and Secretary were happy on seeing the turn out.

Sathya started the concert with Sri Sukram and on request of the manager of the ashram played Reethigowla raga allapana followed by Thanam and presented Janani Ninuvina a Subraya Sastrigal krithi . He also tried the anandhaBhairavi krithi ThyagarajaYoga Vaibhavam set to Rupaka thalam for teh first time and was well received. Sri Sundaresan lauded the efforts of Sathya and as Mr Balasubramanian, Preseident of the sabha spoke on the questioning of this very instrument in Carnatic forum, a rasika who understandably is the nephew of a great singer seconded the thoughts of Mr balu who was very much appreciative of teh performance of Sathya which was also appreciated by the audience who had stayed back for the full concert. Signing off 2009 at Music Academy

It was indeed a great opportunity for Sathya to just perform with his uncle Sri Embar S. Kannan on the format of "Fusion" a thematic presentation which was presented as a medley - chain of songs. It had a western number followed by a film and a carnatic krtihi which was presented by these two vidwans and they were so great in their timing that when they played the last phrase of Vandhey Matharam the clock showed 00:00:00 and that was the time for celebrating the New Year 2010. What a way to end a year and to get into another! a rare opportunity and thanks to "Carnatica" for this wonderful arrangement to celebrate New Year. This was organised in association with The Music Academy and had various concepts presented by leading artists. Llarge audience presence showed the success of teh concept and hope to have this featured regularly inmore appealing manner in teh years to come. Kudos to  Carnatica Team.

Concert for Brahma Gana abha on 31st Dec'09

BGS has been kind of home ground now for Sathya and he did a good presentation with Sri V.V. Ravi on violin, Sri Poongulam Subramanian on Mrudhangam and Dr. Ghatam Karthick enhansing the concert. Full marks to Sri Nagarajan, the Sound Engg. at Sivagami Pethachi auditorium for balancing the output in a great way.

Sathya took up Vishvambari, last of the Brahma Chakram in the Melakartha ragas and presented for Brahma Gana Sabha a RTP with the words "Ramani SriRamanai Raghuramanai - Naalum paadi Arulperuvom" in Kandajathi Thriputa thalam with Sunduviral edupu. t was much appreciated by the enhancing artists on stage and also had a great appreciation from the audience which was not bad considering the day being New year eve and also was on a working day. The good sign was the coverage by NDTV-Hindu channel and a good write up on Sathya in the Business India magazine in the issue dated 17th Jan'10.
