Concert of Dr. Balamuralikrishna Krithis by Sathya at Vipanchee on December 27, 2009

It is one year since Sathya got the blessings of  Dr. Balamuralikrishna with his presence on the 25th Dec'08 at RK Swamy Hall, for Vipanchee, which turned his life as he got under the tutelage of this legendary musician. Sathya deceided to use this one hour concert on 27th dec'09 to present all pieces learnt from him within this period and it was indeed a great satisfying effort. The audience turnout was also good and the enhancement artists in Parur Ananthakrishnan on Violin, Calcutta Karthick on mrudhangam and Hariharasurbamanian on Ghatam gave a performance that filled with bhavam and essance of the krthis to the satisfaction of the audience. The aalapana in ragam Lavangi -a test for any musician- was performed well by both SAthya and Ananthakrishnan and the kalpanaswarams just flowed with both their fingers dancing on their instruments.

The list of krithis rendered are as under:

1. Varnam - GambeeraNaatai - Adi
2. Mahadeva - Arabhi - Adi (OR &; S)
3. Brahadheeswara - Kaanada - Rupakam (R)
4. OmKara - Lavangi - Adi (R, S & T)
5. Thillana - Brindhavani - Adi
6. SriKarunyaRupini - Punnagavarali - Adi

Mr. Sathyendra, an artiste who had won more than 12 National & International awards acting in films, short films, dramas etc., expressed his views which can be listened to in the link http://www.esnips.com/doc/d1d79e10-a255-450f-bf15-1b19184e5a53/Views-of-Sathyaendra-a-rasika

While every one is looking forward to recognition for theis instrument - Keybaord - in All India Radio as a solo instrument, it was an oppurtunity created by the Almighty for Sathya to perform exactly a 59 mts concert with Varnam, raaga aalapana, kalpanaswaram, thani avarthanam, thillana and a thukkada - a format normally adhered to by artists while they perform for AIR.

Thanks to Chennai vision, a web hosting company this concert was seen live and you can also see the recorded version under kutcheri videos in the linkl http://chennaivision.com/

heArtbeat concerts for Kalarasana & Chennaiyil Thiruvaiyaru December 2009

heArtbeat concerts are always close to Sathya's heart and so was these two in particular the first one on 19th Dec'09 at Kalarasana. This forum we will never forget as they gave the first recognition for Sathya to perform a 3 hr concert on the 23rd Dec'04. What a moment it was!! We are deeply indebted to Sri Srinivasan and the entire team of Kalarasana for the great thought and Sathya with the grace of the Almighty has been trying to full fill the expectations thus far & continue to strive hard to live up to the same.

The team of Dr. S. Karthick on Vocal, Ghatam & Konnakol with Embar Kannan on Suilent Violin, Sri Poongulam Subramanian on Mrudhangam, Arunkumar on Rhythm Pad and Sundarkumar on Kanjeera with Sagayam doing the PA was indeed very good and the audience appreciated the team's effort in a great way. Infact there was a couple who i saw them going out early and when i was checking for thereason, they said it was theri misfortune that a work suddenly came through, thanks to cell phone, if not they would never ever leave this early with the gret performance going on. A real complimant for the team indeed! The main piece was a RTP on ragam Vakulabaranam a Melakartha ragam set to Misra Thriputa thalam. Embar Kannan & Sathya excelled in their allapanas and in the ragamalika kalpanaswaram with each of them taking 2 different ragas and expanding them.  Keep it up team heArtbeat!

Chennaiyil Thiruvaiyaru concert on the 21st Dec'09 with the same team with the addition of  eswar the hambura which was gifter to asthya by them. Eswar was indeed a great contributor to this show with great Thambudra Nadham which created a good ambiance. In this concert the team took the audience with the Shanmugapriya composition of Dr. Ghatam Karthick with the lines starting - Om Saravanabhava

Shanmuuga Azhaga Muruga. The percussion team went on a good thani avarthanam with Dr. Karthcik on the konnakol also. The team gave a great treat for the large audience and Saravana Audios was very much appreciated by the team for having given an excellent support on the audio. The visual clips were also great and kudos to the team which is working for Kalaignar TV this time around. Another successful heartbeat concert and Dr. Karthcik & team is indeed a great one to watch out in the years to come.

Recognition to the instrument and the artiste from ESWAR

Yellam Eswaran Seyal is a common phrase in music circle and it is indeed a great thought full action of

"Thoughtworks India (P) Ltd" to present their eswar - an instrument that serves every purpose for a musician. This is indeed a great possession for Sathya who actually wanted to buy one on the 15th Dec'09. However when he went to Sivagami Pethachi Auditorium the outlet was closed due to heavy rain. Self with my friend Sri Diwakar had a look at the unit on the 17th Dec'09 and were casually asking if we would get some discount if it was for a performing artiste. On knowing that it was being asked for Sathya, Sri Ramji - Advisor  Music content, of the company immediately offered to present a piece to Sathya.

It was indeed a pleasant surprise to all of us in our family andwe sincerly thank the Team of  eswar namely Sri M. K. Chandrasekar - Director, Sri Ramji - Advisor Muisc Content, Sri Raj - echical support, Sri Shyam - Designer and others for having thought of presenting their unit to Sathya. We sincerely hope with the grace of Almighty,  Sathya wil live up to the expectations of all his well wishers. Looking forward to sathya using this unsit on teh 129th Dec'09 when he performs for heArtbeat Ensemble for Kalarasana at RAni Seethai Hall, Mylapore. December 15, 2009 - Concert for Panchamuka Anjaneya Samithi, Mylapore

This is the first stage Sathya got an opportunity to perform one of his first 90 mts concerts and it is indeed a fact that there is no turning back. Sathya has performed over 600 concerts and is due to the blessings of this deity. The deity is a priced possession of Sri Ramaswamy & family and his son is the head priest. It was indeed a great blessing that even though the programme schedule had been finalised without a Sathya name in the final list, he got this opportunity when we had gone to their house to invite for the Bhajan albu release. As Sri Ramaswamy was expressing his inability to feature Sathya for this year's music festival, suddenly his son came out of the pooja room and inquired if Sathya would be free to perform on 15th December'09. It was indeed a great opportunity which we were looking forward to and accepted same without hesitation. It is a fact that every musician loves to come and perform for this deity irrespective of the time, duration & presence of the audience.

As it was not in the schedule of things and also because of heavy rains we did not expect much audience and was in principal performing to the deity and the blessings were very much showered with great vibrations felt by one and all present. It was also a first concert for K. Dakshimnamurthy who comes from Mumbai and studying music under Sri Trivandrum balaji. He is competent to perform on Ghatam, Morsing, Tabla and Kanjeera and on this day he tok up Ghatam & Morsing with his guru.He is indeed good artiste in the making. he raga aalpana and the kalpnaswarams were all short phrased considering that it was just 75 mts concert. The thani avarthanam was short, crisp and both the artists gave their best and made it a grand one.  M. Rajeev was on violin and the team gave an excellent concert with almost all krithis on Lord Rama. Sathya also performed one dedicated to Lord Anjaneya apart from the Mallari follwoed by a Vinayagar krithi to start off and Bagyadhalakshmi just before the final chanting of Raghupathy raghava RajaRam.

December 14, 2009 Concert for Sri Thyaga Brahma Gana Sabha

A concert which we were looking forward to and it was indeed a good one with the team of SP Ananthapadmanabha on Violin, R. Sankaranarayanan on Mrudhangam and Hariharasharma on Kanjeera. Sathya started off with a ata thala Kaanada Varnam rendering 2 kalams in the apt speed followed it with the middle speed during the charanam. The team's understanding was fully on display during the first piece itself and it was indeed a great support fromt the audience with a good turn out. It was almost full and every one stayed back till the end which indeed speaks on the success of the concert. Shakshi a Telegu daily had carried a review in their issue dated 15th December, 2009 with the team's photo which can be viewed in the link http://reviewsonsathya.blogspot.com

Ananthapadmanabha was his usual best throughout and was very effective in following the krithis. Sankarnarayanan's ability to follow the songs and to excel himself to a greater level during the Thani avarthanam was very much evident. Hariharasharma was very effective and was apt in playing to the requirement & gave an excellent presentation during thani. Sathya tried out grahabedham while playing Natakurinchi, Mohanam and Sankarabaranam raagams during the Kalyani aalapana for the krithi Pankacha Lochana which drew the attention of one and all and the audience were delighted to give special appalausse for this. While all the 3 enhancing artists were very appreciative of the song selection, Sankaranarayanan  in particular was very appreciative for the song selection with inclusive of variety of thalams and having Adi thalam only in the sixth piece. special mention had to be given to the excellent PA system provided by the Sabha authorities which makes a lot of difference in the performance levels. The details of the krithis renedered are as under:

02. EkaThandham - Bilahari - Misrachapu (R&S)

First Time for Karthik Fine Arts during December festival 11th Dec'09

First of all our apology for having mentioned wrongly the venue details for this concert int eh flyers which we had given initially. In fact we felt bad when couple of the people called and asked about the venue after reaching BVB mini Hall instead of Narada Gana Sabha. A reminder to be more cautious in future.

This is the first time Sathya has got an opportunity to perform for Karthk Fine Arts and it was indeed a great presentation considering that Akkarai Swarnalatha joining after a long time and SriManakal Sriram for the first time with Sathya. Both of them were brilliant and enhanced the concert very well. The audince turn out was also good throughout the concert. Ms Swarnalatha was at her best in the raaga aalapana of Vasantha and also was sharp in the responses to kalpanaswras. Sri Mankal Sriram was very enthusiastic and encouraging and played a good thani which was indeed treat to the audince. A good concert in all accounts and the list of the krithis presented are as under.

December 06, 2009 first heArtbeat concert for the season

A great experience always to perform with jambavans of the trade and it was one another for Sathya to be part of the great heArtbeat team led by Dr. Ghatam Karthick, Embar Kannan on silent Violin, Poongulam Sunramaniam on the Mrudhangam, Sundarkumar on Kanjeera and A.S. Krishnan on Morsing. It was also the first heArtbeat concert Embar Kannan was performing after receiving teh Kalaimamani award. A scintillating concert with a large attendance indeed. Looking forward to the other concerts in this December festival.

Thirumoorthy Sangeetha Sabha, 02 December, 2009, Pozhichallur

It was like a home coming for Sathya after couple of years into this venue which he likes because of the location near the airport with flights often seen while you are performing. The team of Sathya with Ananthapadmanabha on Violin, Thillaisthanam Suriyanarayanan on Mrudhangam and Hariharasubramanian on Ghatam & morsing presented a concert to the utmost satisfaction of the audience who were themselves well informed of our traditional music. Presence of a young vidwan Pogo amazing Kid 2008 Abilash added charm in the audience.

Starting with a varnam the team presented krithis enjoyed by the selective audience who were present with good ears for this Carnatic on keyboard concept. When RTP was announced the surprise was seen in their faces and with teh speech of the Secretary, it was evident that Sathya succeeded in his efforts. SP Ananthapdmanabha with his rich experience of accompanying for Vidhushis Bombay Sisters enhanced the concert with his perfect accompaniment. he percussion team was always going great with Sathya and gave a crisp thani. he bhajan pieces from Sathya's album was well received by all present. A great start for the December Music Season 2009-2010

What can one ask for more than the blessings to perform for Guru Yogi Ramsurathkumar's Jayanthi festival as your first concert for a season?

A great day, thanks to Om Bhavatharini amma for the oppurtunity extended, indeed as Sathya attempted to perform a thematic concert with krithis based on Yogi's life which story was narrated. The krtihis followed and it was a musical presentation of the life history of this great guru. With his blessings i am sure Sathya's performance this year will be appreciated with the grace of Almighty. Please do come and bless Sathya where ever possible and the details are in http://concertschedules.blogspot.com/

Bhajans on Keyboard released on 25th Nov'09

A great moment in our life! Yes, we didn't even think that this would happen when Sathya played on the 25th Dec'09 at "Vipanchee" chaired by Dr. Balamuralikrishna. It was indeed our wish that Dr. Balamuralikrishna release Sathya's album and in the previous instances we could not get his dates. Today our dream has come true in all means that Dr. Balamuralikrishna not only released his new Bhajans album but also spoke about his efforts to lift the ban in "All India Radio" for this as a solo Instrument.

Thanks once again to Sri. Dinesh Naidoo who was the first person to recognise Sathya's talent after seeing him in South Africa, to produce an album titled Carnatic on Keyboard Vol 1 in the year 2003. He also followed it up with his second production Carnatic on Keyboard Vol2 in 2004 and now this is his third and Sathya's 9th album. What a forethought this man had and hats off to him for Sathya to be in the position where he is now!

The evening started with Sathya's paternal Grandmother Smt. Padma Pathy and Smt. Janaki Subramanian, a ardent well wisher of Sathya, lighting the kuthuvillaku - the traditional Lamp. It was Dr. Ghatam Karthick who made his debut as a Comparer and went on to make a flawless Century, in presenting the event to the audience in the best way possible. His introduction of the Guest of Honours, the artists and thanking the audience were all in style and it is nice to know that a new avatar of Dr. Ghatam Karthick has surfaced during this album launch.

The team of Adyar Balasubramanian on Nadaswaram, Thillaisthanam Suriyanarayanan on Mrudhangam, Pradeep on Tabla, Sridhar on Drums and Rajagopal on Effects & timing gave five selected numbers from the albums they had performed and it was appreciated to have been indeed pleasing to the ears by the audience. Rajagopal blew the traditional "Sangu" which was indeed a surprise not only for the audience but also for the artistes on stage.

Then came the moment Dr. Balamuralikrishna launched this album along with Dr. NAlli Kuppuswami Chetti, Sri. A. Natarajan (former Director Doorsharshan, Chennai) Sri Goaselan Achary, Durban, South Africa and Sri. Dinesh Naidoo, producer of this album under Serendipity Production, Durban, South Africa. It was so nice to see large amount of media person coming and blessing Sathya for this event and the audience after listening to the performance were eager now to buy their copy. It was Mr & Mrs/ Ganesan who got the first copy in 300 numbers, a thought full gift for their son's wedding reception, Sri Ranganathan, Ashok Foundations, 100 numbers, bought as New Year give away and Sri Vikram Sarathy, 50 numbers who bought for give away gift for his Poonal - Thread wearing ceremony. There were around 75 individuals who had also bought their copies.

A great day ended with Raghupathy Raghava Raja Ram track played and with audience returning home blessing Sathya and listening to this pleasant track in the back ground.

Saraswathi Pooja day Concert at Koothanur Saraswathi Temple - 27 Sep'09

Sathya was indeed blessed to have got the oppurtunity to perform at the Temple of Goddess Saraswathi - God of Music, on the Saraswathi Pooja day this year on the 27th Sep'09. Thanks to Sri. Jayaraman and the temple authorities and it was a good presentation as expressed / informed by them after the concert. The team of Sathya with Karakal Venkatasubramanian on violin, Sri Keerthivasan on the Mrudhangam and Krishnababu on Thalam & kanjeera were appreciated by the interested listeners at the temple. Thanks to a well wisher of Sathya who had come to listen to this concert from Mayavaram, for taking the photos and videos.

and the audio is under serial number 030 of www.sangeethamshare.org/sathya
Interesting news is that it was indeed the first time Sri Keerthivasan was performing for Sathya and they decided to perform the Pancharathna Mallari set to Ata thalam which was discussed just before the concert and the team performed it so well that the Nadaswara vidwan Thirurameswaram Sri TRK Karthegeyan, after the concert, informed that this was indeed the reason for the team to have stayed back for the concert till the end. Thanks for the involvement of the Nadaswara Vidwan who was on thalam throughout. It was also for the first time Sathya attempted to perform aalapana and the kalpanaswaram for Dwajavanthi and what a place to make a start! This shows the blessings the team have probably received from the Goddess of Music Goddess Saraswathi on the holy day of Saraswathi Pooja.

Sringeri Bharthi Vidhyashram concert on 20th September, 2009 at T. Nagar.

This September is probably the month of - Dreams coming True. It looks like that for us. Staying in West Mambalam and passing this temple located in Venkatanarayana Road, T. Nagar Chennai, we always dream of getting an oppurtunity to perform in this Temple premises and that dream also came true this September. Thanks to Sri Subramaniam and all the officials of this Math Temple Sathya got the oppurtunity to perform on the 20th September, 2009.

It turned out to be even more greater with living Mrudhangam Legend, adored as Nandheekeswarar - Sangeethakalanidhi Sri Umayalpuram K. Sivaraman sir blessing Sathya being in the august audience which had lots of his well wishers including Sri T. V. Goplalakrishnan affectionately called as Tee Vee Gee of Sangeethamshare.org. It was indeed so nice of Sri UKS ji to have accepted our invitation and our sincere thanks to him to have stayed back for the entire concert. Blessings at the best for Sathya and we sincerely hope to get his valuable suggestions, inputs for Sathya to proceed in is musical efforts henceforth.

Sathya was enhanced by M. Rajeev on Violin and Erode Nagaraj on Mrudhangam who performed at their best in embellishing the efforts of Sathya's efforts. Sathya's effort of doing grahabetham in the kalyani aalapana on to Mohanam was well received and getting acknowledgement from rasikas & co-artists is indeed a great pleasure and that was seen in his face. Rajeev won the hearts of the rasikas with his great act of following krithis and also while doing the aalpanas. Erode Nagaraj was at his best, blessed with his guru's presence, and enhanced the best. The greatness of our carnatic system of music is the adaptability of artists just on stage and this was evident when Sathya tried some new korvais which was well received and performed by Sri Rajeev and Sri Erode Nagaraj, which surely have not been rehearsed with the artists before. Here is the link in serial 029 of www.sangeethamshare.org/sathya for the audio of this concert and we would appreciate your feedback comments and valuable suggestions.

In heArtbeat Ensemble Concert at Tirumala

"Dream becomes true" is what was proved on the 14th September, 2009 when Sathya was performing at Tirumala at the feet of Lord of Seven Hills! Yes it was indeed a dream for Sathya's paternal Grandmother who identified him as "God's Child" when he came to this world! She o seeing him perform Carnatic concerts on keyboard always wanted him to perform at Tirumala and her dream came true on the 14th Sep'09. It was indeed a great blessing and a blissful performance from the team of Dr. S. Karthick on Vocal & Ghatam, Embar S. Kannan on Violin, Poongulam Subramaniam on Mrudhangam, K.V. Gopalakrishnan on Kanjeera and Kalaimamani A. S. Krishnan on Morsing.

Sathya played a wonderful raaga aalapana for Sallabam and the team was at its best! Why not! as mentioned by Guruji Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna in his composition he sang at Tirumala on hem being bestowed with the Aasthana Vidwan title. He says that even though Lord Balaji Temple is seen all over the world, one at Tirumala is indeed unique and it is because of the Sthanam - Place or Location. With a performance from a devoted team it was only perfect that the best came out at the best of Location for a performance! Here is the link of the audio and this concert was seen by millions on SVBC TTD Channel and was echoing throughout the hills which was a divine moment for all in our family.

Sathya blessed to be under The Legendary Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna!

The greatest thing that has happened in Sathya's life after his return from USA & Canada is that he has been blessed to be the sishya of Padmavibhusahan Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna. Yes it is indeed a dream come true happening for us and it was a great blessing that Sathya has started his classes under the Living God of Music on the 9th July, 2009. This is indeed a great recognition for the efforts of Sathya to perform Carnatic on music and we are sure this is a great beginning for him and the instrument for the long journey in the field of Carnatic Music.

2009 USA & Canada Tour Impressions

Kudos to Kalalaya (National sponsors) & IACRFINC for the thought of having Sathya's concert tour this April-May 2009 in USA & Canada. Sincere thanks to all the local organisations for staging his concerts which were all success in all ways. It was indeed a great tour of USA & Canada for Sathya during which he performed 19 cocnerts in 18 cities with few lec-dems. Sathya had the blessings of Sri Embar Kannan and Sri Poongulam Subramanian as his enhancing artists. Here is the collection of video clipping of views expressed by the artists and many rasikas during this tour. Sathya got the oppurtunity to perform many different ragas for RTP, thanks to suggestions by Embar Kannan and Poongulam Subramanian. It is indeed a fact that Sathya has become so fond of Sri Poongulam as he was his friend playing with him almost every minute possible, more than his own maternal uncle and self, his father!

We look forward to more such tours.

May 30, 2009 concert at Washington DC

It was yet another good presentation b y the team at Washington DC at Siva Vishnu Temple for Arulmigu Melmaruvatthur Adiparasakthi Peetam fund raiser concert. The audience were not flly into liking hardcore carnatic music and so Sathya & team presented a concert in line with our tradition also keeping in mind the interest of the audience. It was well received and one of the success is that Mr Siva subramaniam, a office bearer of SVTT has promised to take a concert arrangement f Sathya's when he visits next time in to Washington. Here are the impressions after the concert and will follow with detailed report later.

Chicago Thyagaraja Utsavam concert 25th May'09

Sathya with Embar Kannan and Poongulam Subramanian gave a performance that got the following comments from Mr Nathan, a seasoned organiser of concerts in Chicago for years. "I sincerely had a bad or no opinion of Carnatic music produced on a keyboard until i listened to your concert. Now i sincerely feel it is no different from any other instrument already in our music front. congrats to your efforts and i wish you all the very best for a great future." This indeed tells the way the concert went today apart from the words of two youths who had been to the concert and gave their impressions after the concert at the gate.

Sincere thanks to Sri Raghavan, Conveyor, who informed about the interest shown by CTU through Smt Bargavi Sundarajan to bring Sathya into USA before couple of years. He also was appreciative of Sathya's efforts and expressed to host him as and when possible. It was also nice to see lot of youth in the audience side and it would be nice if they are inspired with this show. You can log on to http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=F977F23018A06AD2

May 23rd 2009 Concert for IACRF & CIMANA - New Jersey

This concert was one like we do a concert in Chennai, the artist had to met directly on stage as they were split into two groups in New Jersey. Being the first day of the long weekend here in USA, The audience turnout was slow and considering the timing of 11 - 130pm it was not really bad as informed by the organisers. Mr Ramanathan, office bearer of IACRF also announced that it was worth attending the concert considering the talent Sathya showcased today irrespective of any day or time and place. A great recognition indeed from a great person!.

Thanks to Smt. Jayashree Venkatraman, the videos has been thoughtfully taken and i am sure every one will enjoy the same. The Varali raga aalapana and the karaharapriya krithi renditions were in particular, praised by Smt Jayashree Venkatraman and Embar Kannan in fact appreciated the raga aalapanas. The thani avarthanam by Poongulam Subramnian was mesmorizing to the effect that both Sathya & Embar Kannan were stunned and did not even take the krithi on place and were appreciating his efforts and this was also well taken by the audience also. Concert for CMA, Charlotte - May 17, 2009

It was a great ambiance which helped the team of Sathya, EmbarKannan & PoongulamSubramanian to present a pleasant concert for the well attended concert for Classical Music Association of Charlotte on the May 17th, 2009. Starting off with a Natakurinji Varnam it was great going all the way. The team was satisfied to the greatest extent as for the monitors and the PA out and enjoyed their performance thoroughly. Reethigowla & Poorvikalyani was excellent and so was the KamalaManohari & KaapiNarayani krtihis. The thani was excellent as always with Poongulam Subramanian at his best.

RTP on Chandrakowns was a crown for the concert. Embar Kannan's idea of presenting a Raagamalika swaram dealing four ragas namely Sallabam, Varamu, SunadhaVinodhini & Hindolam with basic notes of SA, GA, MA, Dha, and Ni with variation in individual notes, which was indeed superb. Both Varamu and Sunadhavinodhini were new for Sathya and after his turn Embar Kannan appreciated Sathya on the stage for doing a great presentation just being taken up for the first time. Embar Kannan appreciated Sathya for the smooth presentation of rendering all the four with Chandrakowns on the reverse with ease and it is indeed a great milestone for Sathya.

The team invloved the crowd while presenting the krithis Brahmamokate, Katrinile varumgeetham and BaghyadhaLakshmi Baramma where in the audience started singing and clapping to the rhythm throughout the krithis. a great attentive & knowledgeable audience, an ambiance and with Ms Pam on audio support, the concert was a real success in all perspectives. Concert at Hartford on May 10, 2009

This was again a long day for the artist as they had to take a Red-eye flight to Philadelphia and then to Hartford which took almost 6 flying hours plus lay over for 3 hrs at Philadelphia apart from the time loss of 3hrs. With all these the artists on reaching Hartford had great lunch organised by Smt Vijaya Janardhan and reached venue in time for the 4pm concert. A good ambiance with a quality PA system awaited with Mr Joseph on the PA here in this venue which helped the team to present a pleasant concert. Mr. Srinivasan and team expressed great satisfaction for having Sathya's concert and the success was that they had promised to have his concerts when ever he is USA. A standing ovation and Mr Joseph's great appreciation (who is himself a professor of Music and learning Indian Music) was the gift for this team here in Hartford.

heArtbeat Ensemble concept at LA, May 09, 2009

This was a concert which was of unique in nature to me as it had my guru Smt. Rose Muralikrishna in the audience who had come to bless Sathya. It was also a great blessing for Sathya as Mr Muralikrishnan, a person who has been teaching Carnatic on keyboard for long years in LA, appreciated Sathya's efforts after the concert and expressed his greatest faith on Sathya to win OSCAR kind of awards in the years to come. The reason was that this was on the heArtbeat Ensemble concept where in Sathya performed not only Carnatic but also performed western type of Chords for some of the numbers in this concerts which probably appealed to Mr Muralikrishnan to get to this view.

The team led by Embar Kannan on silent violin, Poongulam Subramanian on Kanjeera, Konnakol and his Mrudhangam with Sriram Ramesh on Rhythm pad made a great presentation and stole the hearts of the audience. It was so nice to see a young child getting impressed on the team's performance, decided to draw a picture of artist as they were on stage and got their autographs on the same after the concert. a great Success for this team of Youth which performed heArtbeat! scccessfully getting to the hearts of people.

Iskon Temple concert, Seattle May 05, 2009

This is indeed a special concert in a way that this was arranged just after Mr Srikanth, from ISKON Temple had been to the concert on May 3rd and checked with ISKON authorities to arrange Sathya's concert there on 5th May'09. It was also great to have a full house audience of over 350 - 400 for the concert and it was well received. There were few who had seen Sathya perform in their family's wedding concert in Chennai and few who had attended few December season concerts in Chennai also. The team presented more krithi more of audience Request (AR) of Lord Krishna Narayana, Rama krithis, few bhajans and a Thillana as well. Photos and videos for this concert was taken by Sri Vasudeva, Priest of Shiva Vishnu Temple, Seattle. Details as follows:

Seattle Concert at HTCC Shiva Vishu Temple, Bothel 03 May'09

When you are on a winning note the matches are always interesting and so was this back to back concert after the successful one on 2nd May at Livermore Temple. It was at the HTCC Siva Vishnu Temple, Bothel, Seattle on the May 3rd, 2009 Sathya with Embar Kannan and Poongulam Subramnian gave another scintillating performance, i say this as they actually got another concert fixed up at a nearby temple - a fresh booking after seeing this performance for the 5th May'09 in Seattle itself. Blessed with the presence of Dr Santhoshkumar, A Veena Vidwan and many known people from India the team did well considering the fact that they had a flt travel and that the concert actually was from 3-6pm. Hard work with commitment pays and so was seen here too. The audience present joined Sathya to chant Rama namavali at the end which was really moving the hearts of all.

The list of krithis rendered are as follows:

in heArtbeat with a "PaceMaker" 02 May'09

It was indeed a difficult job handed over the the team of Embar Kannan on silent violin, Ponngulam Subramanian on Mrudhangam Sathya on keyboard and Sriram on Rhythm Pad & Morsing to perform the heArtbeat ensemble concept in the absence of Dr. Ghatam Karthick at the Livermore Temple on the 2nd May'09. Yes as Dr Karthick could not make it due to unforeseen circumstances, Poongulam Subramanian acted as the "Pacemaker" for this "heArt to beat" taking up Vocal, Kanjeera and Konnakol to make this concert a grand success. Poongulam sang an outstanding melody for Shanmugapriya and he was appreciated not only by the audience but also by Embar Kannan for his great efforts.

Embar Kannan took up the role of compering along with his usual best violin rendition with Sathya & Sriram doing their best and the team was praised for their grand show yesterday. The raga aalapana for Rathipathipriya, Vanaspathi and Shanmugarpriya by Embar Kannan and Jog & Shanmugapriya by Sathya were simply outstanding. Sathya's support on keypads & bass guitar support for Vanaspathi piece were note worthy. Here is the link for the video clippings and hope everyone enjoys the same. The entire, almost full house, audience gave a standing ovation and there was also lots of youth who had attended the concert turned up at the end to enquire on nuances of carnatic on keyboard and also to know about the silent violin played by Embar Kannan. The success was known with lots of mails reaching the same night to congratulate the team on their splendid performance.

Concert for CAMAGA - ATLANTA - 26th April'09

This was the first concert to have been performed in a temple. It was a great Balaji temple and also had a Shiva temple adjacently. The concert here had main krithi on ragam Thodi and also a RTP on Reethigowla with phrase - "Mal Maruganai Muruganai Pani Maname - Maneme Diname Ninaindhidu" in kandajathi Thriputa thalam. Raga aalapana, The thanam, the thrikalam of pallavi and the kalpanaswarams were all appreciated very much by the audience who gave once again a standing ovation.

It has been a good concert presentation tour (and o is off the concert) for this team and hope Sathya maintains and does his best in the rest. Dr Ram Sriram one o the officials of CAMAGA - Atlanta, gave a good speech highlighting all the positives of all the three artists and Sathya in particular. It was interesting to see youngster coming to Sathya enquiring about the keyboard techniques after the concert and you can listen to a youngster interested in carnatic muic to give his impressions in the video clipping below:

St Louis concert for Sangeetha on april 25, 2009

A perfect change in weather form 38 degree F to 90 degree F bringing remembrance of Chennai weather for all of us did not change the quality of performance by the team of Sathya, Embar Kannan and Poongulam Subramanian this day. Ms Mahitha Bharadwaj, who also performs Carnatic on keyboard introduced the artists and it was one of the nice things that a cultural exchange of keyboard artists has taken place with this concert in St. Louis as Ms Mahitha has already performed in Chennai the city where Sathya lives. The main ragam for the day was in Mohanam and the team also performed few krithis as per audience request. The video clipping of Mr Bala tells the success story of this concert.

Sathya's concert at Calgary - April 19, 2009

Back to back concerts are always difficult particularly when it involves long air travel. Yes the artists traveled from Montreal to Calgary and after just few hours of rest presented a good concert which was well appreciated by all in the audience. Mr UdayThakor was in particular on the appreciation and blessings received by Sathya from Mr Mahindra Patel ho is considered to be a good musicologist working in The University of Calgary.

Sathya for the first time attempted to elaborate Dwajavanthi raaga aalapana and Sathya was so happy to have got applause not only from the knowledgeable audience but also from his mentor and uncle Embar Kannan right on stage. While there was graceful Charukesi from Sathya & Kannan, Poongulam Subramaniam was at his best all throughout and in particular in Thani avarthanam. The pattern he played for Akilandeswari was really appreciated as he brought in feel of Tabla for this song. Here is the video clipping link of the concert, thanks to Ms Arthi, student of Embar Kannan, who had helped in recording these clippings.

The RTP on ragam Sumanesaranjani was the highlight of the concert with Pallavi lines being "Vaa Guha Muruga Shanmuga - Valli Manla Vadivelava". The ragamalikla kalpanaswarams on Reethigowla, JOG, Shanmugapriya and Priyadharshini alternatively by Embar Kannan & Sathya with Sathya playing all the ragams on the reverse before concluding with a good korvai on Sumanesaranjani. The team work on this piece was very much appreciated by one and all.
