May 30, 2009 concert at Washington DC

It was yet another good presentation b y the team at Washington DC at Siva Vishnu Temple for Arulmigu Melmaruvatthur Adiparasakthi Peetam fund raiser concert. The audience were not flly into liking hardcore carnatic music and so Sathya & team presented a concert in line with our tradition also keeping in mind the interest of the audience. It was well received and one of the success is that Mr Siva subramaniam, a office bearer of SVTT has promised to take a concert arrangement f Sathya's when he visits next time in to Washington. Here are the impressions after the concert and will follow with detailed report later.

Chicago Thyagaraja Utsavam concert 25th May'09

Sathya with Embar Kannan and Poongulam Subramanian gave a performance that got the following comments from Mr Nathan, a seasoned organiser of concerts in Chicago for years. "I sincerely had a bad or no opinion of Carnatic music produced on a keyboard until i listened to your concert. Now i sincerely feel it is no different from any other instrument already in our music front. congrats to your efforts and i wish you all the very best for a great future." This indeed tells the way the concert went today apart from the words of two youths who had been to the concert and gave their impressions after the concert at the gate.

Sincere thanks to Sri Raghavan, Conveyor, who informed about the interest shown by CTU through Smt Bargavi Sundarajan to bring Sathya into USA before couple of years. He also was appreciative of Sathya's efforts and expressed to host him as and when possible. It was also nice to see lot of youth in the audience side and it would be nice if they are inspired with this show. You can log on to http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=F977F23018A06AD2

May 23rd 2009 Concert for IACRF & CIMANA - New Jersey

This concert was one like we do a concert in Chennai, the artist had to met directly on stage as they were split into two groups in New Jersey. Being the first day of the long weekend here in USA, The audience turnout was slow and considering the timing of 11 - 130pm it was not really bad as informed by the organisers. Mr Ramanathan, office bearer of IACRF also announced that it was worth attending the concert considering the talent Sathya showcased today irrespective of any day or time and place. A great recognition indeed from a great person!.

Thanks to Smt. Jayashree Venkatraman, the videos has been thoughtfully taken and i am sure every one will enjoy the same. The Varali raga aalapana and the karaharapriya krithi renditions were in particular, praised by Smt Jayashree Venkatraman and Embar Kannan in fact appreciated the raga aalapanas. The thani avarthanam by Poongulam Subramnian was mesmorizing to the effect that both Sathya & Embar Kannan were stunned and did not even take the krithi on place and were appreciating his efforts and this was also well taken by the audience also. It was a great ambiance which helped the team of Sathya, EmbarKannan & PoongulamSubramanian to present a pleasant concert for the well attended concert for Classical Music Association of Charlotte on the May 17th, 2009. Starting off with a Natakurinji Varnam it was great going all the way. The team was satisfied to the greatest extent as for the monitors and the PA out and enjoyed their performance thoroughly. Reethigowla & Poorvikalyani was excellent and so was the KamalaManohari & KaapiNarayani krtihis. The thani was excellent as always with Poongulam Subramanian at his best.

Embar Kannan's idea of presenting a Raagamalika swaram dealing four ragas namely Sallabam, Varamu, SunadhaVinodhini & Hindolam with basic notes of SA, GA, MA, Dha, and Ni with variation in individual notes, which was indeed superb. Both Varamu and Sunadhavinodhini were new for Sathya and after his turn Embar Kannan appreciated Sathya on the stage for doing a great presentation just being taken up for the first time. Embar Kannan appreciated Sathya for the smooth presentation of rendering all the four with Chandrakowns on the reverse with ease and it is indeed a great milestone for Sathya.

The team invloved the crowd while presenting the krithis Brahmamokate, Katrinile varumgeetham and BaghyadhaLakshmi Baramma where in the audience started singing and clapping to the rhythm throughout the krithis. a great attentive & knowledgeable audience, an ambiance and with Ms Pam on audio support, the concert was a real success in all perspectives. Concert at Hartford on May 10, 2009

This was again a long day for the artist as they had to take a Red-eye flight to Philadelphia and then to Hartford which took almost 6 flying hours plus lay over for 3 hrs at Philadelphia apart from the time loss of 3hrs. With all these the artists on reaching Hartford had great lunch organised by Smt Vijaya Janardhan and reached venue in time for the 4pm concert. A good ambiance with a quality PA system awaited with Mr Joseph on the PA here in this venue which helped the team to present a pleasant concert. Mr. Srinivasan and team expressed great satisfaction for having Sathya's concert and the success was that they had promised to have his concerts when ever he is USA. A standing ovation and Mr Joseph's great appreciation (who is himself a professor of Music and learning Indian Music) was the gift for this team here in Hartford.

heArtbeat Ensemble concept at LA, May 09, 2009

This was a concert which was of unique in nature to me as it had my guru Smt. Rose Muralikrishna in the audience who had come to bless Sathya. It was also a great blessing for Sathya as Mr Muralikrishnan, a person who has been teaching Carnatic on keyboard for long years in LA, appreciated Sathya's efforts after the concert and expressed his greatest faith on Sathya to win OSCAR kind of awards in the years to come. The reason was that this was on the heArtbeat Ensemble concept where in Sathya performed not only Carnatic but also performed western type of Chords for some of the numbers in this concerts which probably appealed to Mr Muralikrishnan to get to this view.

The team led by Embar Kannan on silent violin, Poongulam Subramanian on Kanjeera, Konnakol and his Mrudhangam with Sriram Ramesh on Rhythm pad made a great presentation and stole the hearts of the audience. It was so nice to see a young child getting impressed on the team's performance, decided to draw a picture of artist as they were on stage and got their autographs on the same after the concert. a great Success for this team of Youth which performed heArtbeat! scccessfully getting to the hearts of people.

Iskon Temple concert, Seattle May 05, 2009

This is indeed a special concert in a way that this was arranged just after Mr Srikanth, from ISKON Temple had been to the concert on May 3rd and checked with ISKON authorities to arrange Sathya's concert there on 5th May'09. It was also great to have a full house audience of over 350 - 400 for the concert and it was well received. There were few who had seen Sathya perform in their family's wedding concert in Chennai and few who had attended few December season concerts in Chennai also. The team presented more krithi more of audience Request (AR) of Lord Krishna Narayana, Rama krithis, few bhajans and a Thillana as well. When you are on a winning note the matches are always interesting and so was this back to back concert after the successful one on 2nd May at Livermore Temple. It was at the HTCC Siva Vishnu Temple, Bothel, Seattle on the May 3rd, 2009 Sathya with Embar Kannan and Poongulam Subramnian gave another scintillating performance, i say this as they actually got another concert fixed up at a nearby temple - a fresh booking after seeing this performance for the 5th May'09 in Seattle itself. Blessed with the presence of Dr Santhoshkumar, A Veena Vidwan and many known people from India the team did well considering the fact that they had a flt travel and that the concert actually was from 3-6pm. Hard work with commitment pays and so was seen here too. The audience present joined Sathya to chant Rama namavali at the end which was really moving the hearts of all.

in heArtbeat with a "PaceMaker" 02 May'09

It was indeed a difficult job handed over the the team of Embar Kannan on silent violin, Ponngulam Subramanian on Mrudhangam Sathya on keyboard and Sriram on Rhythm Pad & Morsing to perform the heArtbeat ensemble concept in the absence of Dr. Ghatam Karthick at the Livermore Temple on the 2nd May'09. Yes as Dr Karthick could not make it due to unforeseen circumstances, Poongulam Subramanian acted as the "Pacemaker" for this "heArt to beat" taking up Vocal, Kanjeera and Konnakol to make this concert a grand success. Poongulam sang an outstanding melody for Shanmugapriya and he was appreciated not only by the audience but also by Embar Kannan for his great efforts.

Embar Kannan took up the role of compering along with his usual best violin rendition with Sathya & Sriram doing their best and the team was praised for their grand show yesterday. The raga aalapana for Rathipathipriya, Vanaspathi and Shanmugarpriya by Embar Kannan and Jog & Shanmugapriya by Sathya were simply outstanding. Sathya's support on keypads & bass guitar support for Vanaspathi piece were note worthy. Here is the link for the video clippings and hope everyone enjoys the same. The entire, almost full house, audience gave a standing ovation and there was also lots of youth who had attended the concert turned up at the end to enquire on nuances of carnatic on keyboard and also to know about the silent violin played by Embar Kannan. The success was known with lots of mails reaching the same night to congratulate the team on their splendid performance.
