Fusion Music under Chitraveena Sri Ravikiran 22.02.07

It was indeed a great recognition extended once again by Sri Ravikiran to have Sathya as one of his team member for the Fusion concept concert rendered for “Chennai Sangamam” at Mada Veedhai, Mylapore in front of Sri Kapaleeswarar Temple (Main Gopuram).

Sri Ravikiran leading the team of Sri K.V. Prasad on Mrudhangam, Sow. Akkarai Subulakshmi on violin, Smt Anuradha Pal on the Tabla (the only women tabla artiste in the world as introduced by the organizer) and Sathya gave an excellent concert.

The concert was presented in a manner that even a novice / first time listener of our traditional form of music relished and enjoyed. Well this is the motive of the concept “Chennai Sangamam” and the artist to the caliber of Sri Ravikiran did extend his full support with this concert.

Starting the concert with his own compositions 1. Cold coffee on ragam Kaapi and 2. Moon flowers on ragam Suryagantham, Sri Ravikiran performed the ever melodious ragam Kadhanakudhugalam. Sri Ravikiran gave a great exposure to Sathya during the raga alapana of Suryagantham in which he brought out the nuances of Carnatic music on the keyboard by guiding Sathya to play the phrases he performed on the Chitra Veena. The audience was very appreciative and this will go a long way to register the arrival of Keyboard in the Carnatic music forum. He also gave ample opportunity to Sow. Akkarai Subbulakshmi to showcase her talents. Sri K V Prasad & Smt Anuradha Pal’s’s excellent accompaniment on the Mrudhangam added flavor and so was the thani avarthanam.

Sri Ravikiran then completed the concert with a Bharathiar’s composition Aasai Marandhu Poche in ragam Jonpuri, The large audience enjoyed every moment of the concert and so did our Chief Ministers wife and the Smt Kanimozhi with her family. A blessed opportunity & experience for Sathya once again to be performing with Sri Ravikiran’s team.
