Sri Kalahasthi concert 12th Feb'07 - A concert to remeber for life time









It was indeed a great evening for Sathya as he was performing with Sri Premkumar, brother of Percussion Maestro Sri Sivamani. Mr Prem not only looked like his brother Sivamani but also showed his proves on his playing style during this programme held as part of Sivarathri festival conducted by Sri Kalahasthi Temple. It was a kind of fusion / ensemble organizers asked for and the team of Ananthakrishnan on violin, Thillaisthanam Suriyanarayanan on Mrudhangam, Bass guitar Suri, Ghatam Hariharasubramaniam and Rajagopal on tabla along with Mr Prem on drums and Sathya gave an excellent performance for about 3 hrs.

The concert started at 915pm (after almost a delay of 2 hrs as the earlier programme were going a little slow) and as it ended at 0015 hrs on the 13th morning Sathya was in a for a great appreciation from the organizers with the title of “Aasthana Keyboard Vidwan of Sri Kalahasthi Temple” which was announced by Sri Kola Anand, Chairman of the Temple Committee. Mr Prem Kumar was also declared as “Asthana Drummer of Sri Kalahasthi Temple”

It is indeed a great honour for Sathya as this came after the Chairman has witnessed his performance and made instant decision to declare him as Aasthana Vidwan and he is now in the list of Dr Sri Balamuralikrishna, Sri Kunnakudy Vaidhyanadhan, Sri Unnikrishnan, Sri Mandolin Shrinivas to name a few of the Asthana Vidwans of this great temple.

Sathya’s song list included 01. Mallari 02. Vathapiganapathim 03. Sobillu 04. Niravathysukatha 05. Chinnanchirukiliye 06. Bo Sambo 07. Own co[position on Jog 08. Sankarabaranam notes 09. Azhan muruganidum a devotional number 10. A medley of songs comprising Chennikulanagar – Kavadi sindhu, Nadhabindu & Muthaithiru – Thirupugazh, Raravenu gopala, Beethovan’s notes, Vandhey Matharam fisnishing with the last lines of our National Anthem.
Sathya was extended special praise for his own composition and the medley & Sri Premkumar was appreciated for his grand solo. The team was encouraged as well and they gave an excellent presentation. Their performance was very important for the organizer’s to award the title of “Aasthana Vidwan” to both Sathya and Mr Prem, with their great enhancement.
